Filipino keglers seize silver, bronze

The Philippine men’s and women’s bowling teams finally landed on the podium after bagging the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the 30th Southeast Asian Games Team of 4 event on Friday at the Coronado Lanes of Edsa Starmall.

The quartet of Kenneth Chua, Patrick Nuqui, Frederick Ong and Merwin Tan finished with a combined 4,937 pinfalls.

The Malaysian bowlers took the gold with 4,980 points while Thailand emerged bronze medalist after tallying 4,896 pinfalls.

In the women’s division, the crew of Alexis Sy, Liza Del Rosario, Lara Posadas-Wong and Bea Hernandez recorded 4,735 pinfalls to snag the bronze.

Singapore (4,833) and Malaysia (4,803) wound up 1-2.

The Philippines was empty-handed in the first three days of the competition when the singles, doubles and mixed doubles events were contested.
