Philippines gets bronze, Thailand wins gold

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – The quartet of Monica Torres, Efraim Inigo, Pawie Fornea, and Emmanuel Comendador grabbed the bronze medal at the 30th Southeast Asian Games Duathlon mixed relay at the Boardwalk area on Thursday.

Duathlon SEA games queen Monica Torres led the Filipino contingents but was overpowered by the Thai contingents as they and the Singaporean contingents left the group.

Thailand’s Parreya Sonsem, Nattawut Srinate, Siriwan Kuncharin, and Arthit Soda showed strong performances but Singapore’s Emma Ada Middleditch, Ahmad Arif Ibrahim, Herlene Natasha Yu, and Nicholas Rachmadi kept close to the leader.

It was only during the final run sequence that Soda left Rachmadi, claiming the gold medal for Thailand. Thailand clocked in at 1:28:48 while Singapore timed at 1:30:16, and Philippines at 1:31:35.
