Gilas cagers cop 3×3 golds

Gilas Pilipinas bagged gold medals in men and women’s 3×3 basketball of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City on Monday.

The Gilas Pilipinas men of CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Mo Tautuaa and Jason Perkins swept their eight games, capped by a 21-9 rout of Indonesia in the finals, to rule 3×3 which debuted in the SEA Games this year.

The women’s team, meanwhile, suffered a loss from Thailand, 20-22, in the preliminary phase but bounced back in the semifinals with a convincing 21-12 win over Vietnam before getting back at the Thais in the finals, 17-13.
