NEW CLARK CITY—The Philippine Blu Girls on Monday made their presence felt in the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games softball tournament, scoring a twin kill at The Villages here.

The Blu Girls blanked Singapore, 6-0, before crushing Malaysia, 8-1, to beef up their chances for the gold.

The women’s squad, which has won all SEA Games golds, showed their might against Singapore by scoring two runs each in the third and fourth innings.

“We have a strong team here but we need to do due diligence and make sure we perform according to what is expected of us,” said Blu Girls team manager Randy Dizer.

In their match against the Malaysians, the Blu Girls allowed their opponents a run in the first inning before launching four runs in the second inning en route to victory.

Meantime, the Philippine softball team also scored a huge opening victory, crushing Thailand, 11-0.

Bolstered by youngsters who finished second in the Asian Youth Championships two years ago, the Blu Boys had a field day bombing away five runs in the fourth frame and four in the fifth.
