Arnis continues gold haul

Angeles City – The Philippines sustained its five-gold haul momentum in the arnis competitions of the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEAG) Games on Monday as two more men’s division gold was snared in the resumption of the tournament at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center here.

Elmer Manlapas opened the day’s golden victory as he dominated Duc Tri Nguyen of Vietnam in the padded stick featherweight division.

Jesfer Huquire, on the other hand, asserted his mastery over Cong Quoc Van also of Vietnam, while Carloyd Tejada demolished Vietnam’s Thanh Tung Vuong to raise the gold tally of the PHL arnis squad to eight.

With the victories, the Philippines padded the gap in gold medals with a total of 28 golds, followed by Vietnam with 10 and Thailand with total six golds in the medal standings as of 2 p.m.
