No threats at San Juan venue

The San Juan City police is ready for this year’s Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, San Juan police chief Col. Jaime Santos said yesterday.

Santos said 96 policemen will be deployed within the vicinity of FilOil Flying V Arena, which is the venue of 3×3 basketball and Esports games, to ensure the security and safety of the athletes and those who are watching the competitions.

“The FilOil Flying Arena is just behind the police station, and we also have a fire station adjacent to the area. So, nothing to worry, because we are very much in that area. All of us are involved,” Santos told Daily Tribune.

The San Juan police chief said local traffic personnel will assist the police in easing traffic congestion in the area to ensure that the athletes will arrive on time.

“Basically, our traffic personnel, with the help of the TPMO (Traffic and Parking Management Office), they’re extending traffic assistance not only the police, but also the local traffic personnel from the stretch of Ortigas, from the corner of Ortigas Avenue up to the corner of P. Guevarra Street. We have a deployment of our TPMO men,” he said.

He said there is no security threat within the vicinity of FilOil Flying V Arena as both the police and the military have already assessed the area a month prior the opening of the SEA Games.
