SEA Games is typhoon ready — PHISGOC

The expected entrance of typhoon “Kammuri” in the country will not affect the hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, the Philippine Sea Games Organizational Committee (PHISGOC) reported Friday.

PHISGOC chief operating officer Ramon Suzara said that they are ready for the downpour and have already prepared a contingency plan even before the announcement of the typhoon.

Suzara said that some outdoor sports could be delayed “for a few hours or one day” during the typhoon while indoor sports would continue as long as there is power supply.

The cauldron to be used for the opening will also not be a problem as it is powered by petrol.

State weather bureau PAGASA said that Kammuri is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility over the weekend.

It is also seen to bring strong winds and rains to Southern and Central Luzon and in Metro Manila.
