Sen. Go trains sights on trauma-stricken children

As in any disaster, children are always the most vulnerable in times of crisis.

Victims of the recent earthquake in Cotabato found an ally in Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go who wants to prioritize helping children overcome trauma brought about by the disaster.

Aside from distributing financial aid, Go asked Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco to make time for the children in the quake-affected areas.

“Sabi ko kay Governor, baka pwede natin silang ipasyal sa Davao. Magpadala tayo ng bus dito, tapos kami na ang sasalo doon sa Davao. Pangpasko lang, para mawala man lang ang takot nila,” Go said on Friday when he visited the provincial capitol of North Cotabato in Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City.

It was Go’s third time in the areas affected by the earthquakes.

“Una sa Tulunan, tapos sa Makilala at Kidapawan, na nag-motor ako,” Go recalled.

Go was joined by representatives from various government agencies, such as the Departments of Labor and Employment, Social Welfare and Development, Public Works and Highways and Health; Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office; Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation; National Housing Authority; and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

After the turnover of financial assistance in Kidapawan, Go proceeded to Digos City to join in the turnover of additional assistance for more quake victims.

During both visits, Go promised local officials and residents of North Cotabato and Davao del Sur that Malasakit Centers will soon rise in their province.
