Enjoy diesel power with the 2020 subcompact SUV

With the new diesel-powered model of the popular Tivoli, SsangYong has given the country’s car-crazy populace another reason to make it their first SUV. It now becomes the only subcompact SUV in the market that runs on diesel.

The 2020 edition of the Tivoli now has two new variants that run the Korean manufacturer’s updated e-XDi160 diesel engine, which promises more power and greater durability than before. The engine boasts a maximum torque of 324 N-m, which gives the Tivoli improved acceleration compared to previous models. With a maximum output of 134 hp, it generates more than enough power to bring out the adrenaline rush that every driver craves. It’s a significant improvement from the previous Tivoli XLV’s engine, which only had 300 N-m torque and a 113 hp output.

“The Tivoli’s new engine is a major upgrade from previous models in more than just the power it generates,” Castillo continued.

“It’s also got cleaner emissions and excellent fuel economy.”

But beyond than just the power, SsangYong believes the Tivoli’s diesel engine will help first-time SUV owners open their minds to the advantages of a more energy-efficient lifestyle. Diesel, after all, creates more torque and is more cost-effective. Mated to this diesel engine is a six-speed automatic transmission, which gives it even better fuel economy during high speed drives. Power and efficiency is what the new Tivoli can offer to customers.

Similar to any brand new SsangYong vehicle, the 2020 Tivoli comes with a three-year free service (oil, parts, and labor), along with a five-year or 100,000km warranty, whichever comes first.

With the new engine comes a bold new look for the Tivoli. The entire front of the vehicle has been redesigned to match its powerful new diesel mill, with lines that slope towards the center to create a more dynamic sense of movement. A larger air intake at the bottom of the front bumper improves the engine’s heat efficiency, making the Tivoli’s facelift both a functional and aesthetic one. Redesigned headlights guarantee improved visibility in various conditions, allowing drivers to safely enjoy the power that the SUV offers.

“With this new product, the market can now enjoy diesel power in the subcompact SUV segment,” Castillo said.

Perhaps one of the most crucial selling points of the 2020 Tivoli—especially for first-time buyers—is its accessible price point. The vehicle’s price tag starts at P 1.18M, making it one of the most accessible models for car-savvy Filipino consumers. This makes the SsangYong Tivoli one of the most exciting entry-level options in the local SUV market—and the only one with a diesel engine.
