Chung saves Azkals

The Philippines forged a 1-1 draw with Cambodia in the opening salvo of the men’s football tournament of the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Rizal Memorial football field.

Substitute defender Dennis Chung scored a game-saving equalizer in the 93rd minute to lift the Filipinos from the jaws of defeat.

The Cambodians had the edge entering the second half as Keo Sokpheng scored on a ground shot in the 40th minute mark of the first half.

The Filipinos leveled-up their game in the last 45 minutes as captain Stephan Schrock led the pressure, but the Nationals just kept on missing their chances.

Azkals forward Chima Uzoka had the chance to give his team a goal in the first half but his header off the left wing went wide.

In the earlier match of Group A, Malaysia also settled for a 1-1 draw against Myanmar.
