Go seeks to help children get over quake trauma

Go said that he wants to help the affected children overcome the trauma brought about by the disaster.

Staying true to his word that he will give aid to those who needed it most, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Friday once again visited the victims of earthquakes temporarily staying at the provincial capitol of North Cotabato in Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City.

In a statement, Go said that he wants to help the affected children overcome the trauma brought about by the disaster, saying that he had asked Governor Nancy Catamco to have the children visit Davao to raise their spirits, especially during the holiday season.

The senator also reminded local government officials to use the funds wisely – referring to the financial assistance from the Office of the President that was turned over to help in the rehabilitation efforts in Kidapawan City and in the municipalities of Magpet and Makilala, which were heavily affected by a series of strong earthquakes.

Go also called for unity and transparency in his third visit in the areas affected by the earthquakes as he was joined by representatives from various government agencies, such as the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Health (DoH), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), National Housing Authority (NHA) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

After the turnover of financial assistance in Kidapawan, Go proceeded to Digos City to join in the turnover of additional assistance to quake victims there.

During both visits, Go also promised the local officials and residents of North Cotabato and Davao del Sur that respective Malasakit Centers in their province will also be put up soon.
