Adopt-an-urban poor community project to launch

Medical, dental, and optical missions will be conducted during the event for the benefit of 1,000 to 1,500 beneficiaries in Barangay Balet, Cogon, Libuak, and Tagpopongan. #PCUP #adoptapoorcommunity

The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), in partnership with the Island Garden City of Samal and MCKS Caring Heart Foundation, Inc. (MCKS CHFI), will launch the “Adopt-an-Urban Poor Community Project” on 23 November in Barangay Balet, Babak District, Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte

Highlighting the launch initiated by PCUP Chairman/CEO Alvin S. Felician is the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the PCUP and other partner companies and agencies such as IGaCoS, MCKS CHFI, Barangay Balet and MHAI.

After the MOA signing, Feliciano, along with PCUP Commissioner-in-Charge for Mindanao Norman B. Baloro, City Mayor Al David Uy, and MCKS CHFI representative Donna Bigkas will lead the groundbreaking ceremonies of the said project.

Hundreds of families are expected to benefit from the said program especially those which were identified as “priority for relocation” by the City Housing Office including also those landless and unprivileged families of Barangay Balet.

Upon the conduct of the said event, medical, dental, and optical missions will be conducted by MCKS CHFI and City Health Office of IGaCoS for the benefit of 1,000 to 1,500 beneficiaries in Barangay Balet, Cogon, Libuak, and Tagpopongan.

The “Adopt-an-Urban Poor Community Project” is one of the three priority programs being pushed by the Commission to help and provide marginalized communities basic needs by partnering with different private companies that support the rights of Filipino poor to have work, education, housing and health care.

The “Adopt-and-Urban Poor Community Program” is anchored on the administration’s 0+10 socio-economic agenda and the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022. Its vision is aligned with the Ambisyon 2040 that aims for a life that is strongly-rooted, comfortable and secured.
