Pampanga studes get gov’t help

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Around 4,645 students were given a total of P13,935,000 by the provincial government of Pampanga under the Educational Financial Assistance Program (EFAP) on Thursday.

Governor Dennis Pineda led the distribution of the financial assistance along with the Provincial Library led by Jasmine Carla Cordero, in coordination with the Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO), at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, here.

According to Pineda, education will always be one of the priorities of his administration. He said the provincial government, thru the efforts of former governor and Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, is committed to provide educational assistance until they graduate.

The governor said that these beneficiary students should focus on their studies and stay clear from vices that could ruin their future, like alcohol and illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, the beneficiary students expressed their gratitude for Governor Pineda’s thrust in helping students support their educational needs financially. Beneficiary student Myla Lansangan thanked the governor, saying that the financial aid provided is instrumental in her collegiate education.

Committee on Education chairperson and Provincial Board Member Olga Frances Dizon said that the provincial government will continue to create and implement programs for the students to ensure their bright future.

Also present in the event were Board Members Pol Balingit, Benjamin Jocson, Rosve Henson, Nelson Calara, Renato Mutuc, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay, and Minalin Mayor Edgardo Flores, Pampanga Mayor’s League president.
