Senate approves Bicam report on Barangay, SK polls delay

The next synchronized local polls will be conducted on the first Monday of December 2025 and every three years after.

The Senate on Monday has ratified the bicameral report on the postponement of the 2020 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections a week after the House of Representatives has approved the counterpart measure on third and final reading.

Once the measure is signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, the next barangay and SK polls will be moved from the original schedule in May 2020 to 5 December 2022. The village polls will be conducted the same year as the presidential elections.

After the 5 December 2022 barangay polls, the next synchronized local polls will be conducted on the first Monday of December 2025 and every three years after.
