Duterte attending ASEAN-ROK Summit

Trade, security and other common concerns between the two countries are expected to be tackled during the bilateral meeting. #ASEANROKSummit

President Rodrigo Duterte will travel to South Korea later this month to participate in the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit, Malacañang said on Sunday.

In South Korea, Duterte is also expected to meet with President Moon Jae-in and have a bilateral meeting with him, said Chief Presidential Legal Counsel and Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo in a radio interview.

Panelo said discussions on trade, security and other common concerns between the two countries are expected to be tackled during the bilateral meeting.

“Eh kung ano ang dapat pag-usapan kaugnay sa pangangalakal, sa seguridad, lahat ng common concerns ng dalawang bansa ba na nag mi-meet. yan ang laging pinag-uusapan, palagi namang SOP ‘yun [Whatever that should need to be discussed relating to trade, security, every common concerns of the two countries that will meet, that’s always talk about, that’s been the SOP],” he added.

The 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit will be held in Busan from 25 to 26 November to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Partnership, which was established in 1989.

Also, the 1st Mekong-ROK Summit will be held on 27 November back to back with the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit.
