What appears to be getting clearer to many is that Leni Robredo, the newly appointed anti-drug czarina, along with her yellow cheering squad, has accepted President Duterte’s offer to head her self-styled war on drugs with just one intent: to destroy the country’s Chief Executive through her newly appointed Palace job, despite not even knowing what the job entails.

Instead of discussing the ways and means of curbing the drug problem with the current heads of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) as its co-chair, Robredo first discussed things with Sen. Panfilo Lacson, who, like her, also seems to distrust the ICAD members and perhaps even the inter-agency heads, as the senator advised the co-chair to “watch her back,” as though she would be the target of the committee heads and members, instead of the drug lords and their drug smugglers.

She then quickly ran to the United States, arranging a meeting with its ambassador and other American officials this week to discuss with them the country’s illegal drug problem.

The Americans know the country’s illegal drug problem better than the heads of the ICAD?

This is not to say that the US officials are totally ignorant about the drug problems being encountered by the Philippine government, but shouldn’t a new chair rely on Philippine officials who are more knowledgeable about the drug problem and even know just who the drug lords are?

Just what advice can the US give that the Philippine officials cannot advise by way of minimizing the drug problem, if not eradicate it? That’s Leni’s way of solving the problem internally?

To be clear: this does not mean either that the US cannot be of help in solving the drug problem. But if truth be told, the US Drug Enforcement Administration personnel in the country also rely on their Philippine counterparts for information. But partnering with Leni for the drug problem? She does not trust the ICAD heads? She certainly fails to show trust in them.

Despite the fact that she claims to believe that the country’s drug problem “should first be solved internally,” Robredo already announced that she would be tapping the United Nations (UN) and even later invite the special rapporteurs to come to the country and even do their investigations.

However, contrary to her moves, Robredo does not seem to believe that the country by itself is capable of solving problems in the administration’s anti-narcotics campaign, including allegations of human rights violations, before inviting international investigators to look into it.

Really? Leni already talks of partnering with the US on the drug war and get the UN and its probers to look into it, yet at the same time, virtually destroys the credibility of the ICAD heads and members instead of supporting them, when she is their co-chair?

Clearly, Leni and her yellows are hardly interested in solving the illegal drug problem as she was reported to have even questioned the official figures presented to her by the ICAD officials. She insisted that the figures are much higher than the data presented to her, even as she had nothing by way of evidence to substantiate her claims of drug deaths from Duterte’s war on drugs.

However, Leni may just fall flat on her face if she as so much tries to get the special probers and make the laughable case of “crimes against humanity.” Robredo should realize that while she may be the drug czarina, she is not the chief executive nor the commander-in-chief, nor, for that matter does she have any authority over the Bureau of Immigration, which already had orders from Duterte and the Palace to ban such UN probers from entering the country.

Apart from embassy officials, Robredo said she would be meeting with UN officers and multisectoral groups.

All of Leni’s steps appear geared, not to solve the country’s drug problem, but to create and generate the perception that Duterte is made responsible and accountable for all the thousands, if not tens of thousands, according to the yellows and the Palace critics, of deaths — no, worse, extrajudicial killings — the yellows’ exaggerated claims stemming from police killings of what they call “innocent” victims.

However, Robredo claims, a day after she met with the ICAD heads, that the step being taken is for her to listen to all, since information cannot be filtered, and what she wants is to be serious about the drug problem.

The ICAD co-chair said it will be a more effective campaign if the people are part of the anti-drug campaign.

Nope, that doesn’t seem to be her plan at all. Together with the yellows, and even with the Reds and holy whites, their plan is to move together to destroy Duterte and eventually oust him from the presidential seat with US and UN help for her and her yellows to be in power and position again — and not through the ballot either.

Even in such infantile moves, she and her yellows will fail.
