NFA: Reports of poor-quality rice isolated case

The National Food Authority (NFA) on Saturday clarified that reports of poor-quality rice being sold at the Pasig Mega Market was an isolated case.

In a statement, NFA Administrator Judy Carol Dansal said that NFA personnel who toured the market found only good-quality rice from retailers and the personnel also confirmed that the stocks of the retailer who had complained against the poor-quality rice had been replaced.

Dansal noted that the NFA had policies and warehouse-keeping protocols for the storage and selling of rice.

To recall, consumers and a retailer had earlier reported that a stock of NFA rice was dark-colored and smelled bad and there was also a complaint of worms in the stock.
