Go: War vs drugs must continue

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go late Friday night reiterated his stand that the fight against illegal drugs must continue and an iron hand is needed in dealing with drug lords following Vice President Leni Robredo’s declaration that there will be zero killings when she officially sits as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

During his relief operations to victims of three recent fire incidents in Tacloban City, the senator emphasized that the Duterte administration’s war against illegal drugs has been effective, as indicated by the approval that the President receives from the Filipino people.

Go also assured the public, though, that the President and his administration will give Robredo the needed support to implement her plans.

Meantime, more than 600 families were gathered at the gymnasium of Barangay Tinago after losing their homes in the fires that occurred in Barangay Mambaling, Barangay Basak San Nicolas and Barangay San Roque, and Go extended his help to the fire victims.

The senator assured the affected children that he will replace the uniforms and school supplies that they lost in the fires, and he offered to help provide for the fare and accommodation of anyone who needs medical attention in Manila.

The victims also received assistance from several government agencies, such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Housing Authority (NHA), Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), and Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Staff of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) and employees of Cebu City Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) also extended help to the victims.
