Gin Kings turn back KaTropa

Barangay Ginebra on Friday night escaped with a thrilling 96-93 victory over TNT KaTropa in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Gin Kings chalked their sixth win in nine games and shared fourth spot with idle San Miguel while dealing the KaTropa their second straight loss.

Stanley Pringle was the man of the hour for Ginebra, scoring a lay-up over TNT import KJ McDaniels with 15.6 seconds left that paved the way for the Gin Kings to run away with the win.

Pringle finished with 14 points and five rebounds.

Not to be outdone was Japeth Aguilar, who sizzled with 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while import Justin Brownlee – who sealed the Gin Kings’ victory by completing two free throws – capped the night with 24 points and 16 rebounds.

Ginebra’s win also overshadowed the 32-point production of McDaniels.

Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario were the only other TNT players in double figures, finishing with 23 and 13 points, respectively.
