Vehicle smashup hurts 2

Two persons were reportedly injured Tuesday morning in a multiple vehicle smashup on the southbound flyover along Meralco Avenue in Barangay San Antonio, Pasig City.

The vehicles involved in the collision were a Toyota Innova, three passenger jeepneys and a Hyundai Starex van.

A jeepney driver and his passenger were reportedly injured in the vehicular accident. They were identified as Ma. Jobelle Duana Villadolid, 24, and Jefferson Medina Pantaleon, 44, jeepney driver.

Initial investigation showed the Toyota Innova, Hyundai Starex van, and two jeepneys were at a full stop on top of the southbound lane of the Meralco Avenue flyover with the jeepneys on the outer lane, the Starex van in the inner lane, while the Toyota Innova was behind the jeepneys and the Starex van. Another passenger jeepney coming from behind them lost its break as it reached the top, causing it to hit the rear of the Toyota Innova.

Because of the impact, the Toyota Innova bounced and hit the passenger jeepney, causing it to bump the Starex van and another jeepney. As a result, the vehicles sustained damages.

The jeepney driver and his passenger were rushed to the Rizal Medical Center for treatment.
