Public support for Rody, however, never wavered as it constantly moved around the 80 percent range despite the incessant attacks against him.

A look back at the follies of Vice President Leni Robredo in the past three years disputed her claims that she never plotted to oust President Rody Duterte.

Sometime in 2017, the Palace asked the National Security Adviser to look into a serious effort to undermine the administration of Rody, based on suspicions triggered by the so-called “Lenileaks,” which are the series of e-mails between financial supporters of the yellow mob and Robredo.

The Palace then found that Filipino-Americans allied with Liberal Democrats in New York were funneling in huge amounts to bankroll efforts to bump off Rody by linking him to the spate of extrajudicial killings (EJK).

A Cabinet member got a whiff of the plot when he was in New York and was told of the plan by a Filipino-American during a function that they both attended.

In the campaigns for the 2016 polls, a so-called “Plan B” of the Liberal Party (LP) was made public in which Robredo would become vice president at all costs with its then standard bearer, Mar Roxas, going nowhere in the surveys.

Another mob rule would snatch the presidency immediately after the polls with Robredo replacing Rody under the LP game plan.

The power grab then started through the unceasing effort to erode the high ratings of Rody through the EJK spin.

The Palace then linked former United States Ambassador Philip Goldberg to the plot. The most famous engagement between Rody and Goldberg was when the President called the US envoy a “gay son of a bitch” to tell him off for meddling in local politics.

Goldberg was expelled by Bolivia in 2008 for allegedly fomenting civil unrest against former President Evo Morales.

The Bolivian government declared Goldberg persona non grata for conspiring against democracy and seeking the division of Bolivia.

According to a Palace report, the Goldberg agenda against Rody showed that “political actors (the opposition) would need all the political weapons in their arsenal to replace the Duterte administration and replace it with something more to the opposition’s liking.”

Goldberg, the report said, urged the US government to employ a combination of “socio-economic-political-diplomatic moves against Duterte to bring him to his knees and eventually remove him from office.”

That was when coup plotter Antonio Trillanes IV’s pawn Edgar Matobato fired off his EJK allegations. The EJK offensive went into full throttle shortly after Rody poured his classic rants on US President Barack Obama before they met in the ASEAN summit in Laos.

Matobato’s testimony came immediately after the President confirmed he wanted to pursue an independent foreign policy and Obama issued a demand for Rody to account for the unsubstantiated EJK allegations.

Matobato then became a celebrity as he was splashed all over media conduits of the yellow mob as he made his outlandish EJK allegations.

Rody then pointed to a Filipina widow of a wealthy African-American as footing the bill for a plot to boot him out. The campaign was later discovered by government intelligence as the “Red October” operation.

The rich Filipino-American woman Rody referred to was Loida Nicolas-Lewis, whose husband billionaire businessman Reginald Lewis died in 1993.

Lewis has been an active campaigner and financial contributor of the LP.

Rody dared his critics to persuade the military and the police to mount a coup, saying he would gladly stand aside and there would be no need for a bloody takeover since they can “have coffee and I myself will swear you in to run this Republic and solve” its problems.

The source of complete frustration for Rody’s detractors is his persistently high ratings and his seeming resilience against the worst attacks on him due to the strong approval from Filipinos of his style of governance.

The disparity on the survey ratings of Rody and Robredo, which is something like 30 to 40 percentage points, ruled out another mob rule or coup attempt against the incumbent.

Even in social media, those supporting Rody drown out the orchestrated trolls who try to demonize him.

Robredo and her minions are fighting a lost cause and the extinction of the yellow opportunists is a certainty.
