More PCUP caravans launched

We target to cover a wider scope of beneficiaries of free services from the government so we decided to add more PCUP caravans in different parts of the country.

The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) initiated the conduct of six more ‘Serbisyo Caravans’ in different areas all over the country before the end of the year in addition to the 46 caravans that was initially set by the commission.

This is with the intent of PCUP Chairman and CEO Alvin S. Feliciano to extend the commission’s helping hand in providing the best services it could give to needy areas especially the ‘poorest of the poor’ communities as the caravans cater to thousands of people availing of different services from the government.

“We target to cover a wider scope of beneficiaries of free services from the government so we decided to add more PCUP caravans in different parts of the country,” Feliciano said, adding that they wish to give aid to places which the government could not reach.

The PCUP caravan, which was first launched on 31 January 2019 and will run until December, is one the three priority programs pushed by the commission along with the “Urban Poor Privilege Card” and “Adopt an Urban Poor Community” program to meet the basic needs of the marginalized groups and to alleviate the country from poverty.

The first out of the six additional caravans was already held last 23 October at the Remarville Tennis Court, Barangay Bagbag in Novaliches, Quezon City where around 2,000 residents benefitted from the said caravan.

Other remaining caravans will be held on 19 November in Barangay Natividad in San Narciso, Zambales; 20 November in Barangay Lambakin Covered Court, Northville 4 in Marilao, Bulacan; 29 November in Barangay Cutud Covered Court, Northville 15 in Angeles, Pampanga; 4 December in Barangay Halang Covered Court, Dorothea Homes in Naic, Cavite; and 18 December in Barangay Maybangcal Covered Court, St. Martha Housing Project in Morong, Bataan.

The PCUP expects to have more poor communities that will be rendered services through the conduct of “Serbisyo Caravan” which aim to provide quality services from various government agencies and other partners from private sectors.
