GenSan bars OPM singer

The local government of General Santos City has declared singer Leah Navarro as “persona non grata” over a controversial tweet.

City councilor Franklin Gacal Jr. filed the resolution after Navarro replied “retribution” to a tweet of Atty. Theodore Te, allegedly implying that the recent earthquakes in Mindanao are “punishment.”

He slammed the singer’s tweet, saying that she has no factual or moral basis to accuse Mindanaoans of having committed criminal acts to be punished and said that the earthquake victims “have lived according to the will of the Great Almighty.”

Gacal added that Navarro’s “despicable behavior” insulted the sensibilities of the people of Mindanao and that she “deserves no less the widest and deepest denunciation.”

To recall, strong earthquakes hit Mindanao in October which prompted President Duterte to order LGUs to thoroughly inspect buildings.
