Here we go again with the topic of Nadine Lustre. It seems the girl can’t just do her thing.

From the “living in” issue and now to her daring birthday photo shoot.

The actress turned 26 last 31 October and photos of hers that showed the sides of her breast and one side of her butt surfaced. She was still relatively dressed, with a pair of denim jeans on the topless photo and a high-cut nude one-piece bathing suit on the other.

Get this. She’s 26, a certified ADULT. Some women her age have even done a lot more daring and baring, and yet some vicious netizens slutshame her. Of course, I am discounting the rabid and crazy fans of rival fandoms because that’s an entirely different issue.

Aren’t we at a time when we’re freer to do what we want? And I am not just talking about women.

We are supposedly at the more freeing time where everybody is entitled to be who they are and what they want to be, within the bounds of the rule of the law, of course.

But then again, as much as we are living in more democratic times as compared to the Middle Ages, archaic mindsets cannot be helped since two of the world’s leaders are chauvinists and misogynists. It’s no wonder that people who share the same values as theirs still exist.

Angel Locsin strikes again. Instead of partying and/or dressing up for a Halloween party, she was spotted in Davao and Cotabato.

Parts of these two provinces were hit with strong earthquakes for succeeding days leading to the annual two-day holiday in commemoration of the dead.

Let me say this: There’s nothing wrong with attending Halloween parties. If it’s been one’s tradition, go ahead.

But this is the second time this year that Angel chose a different route than expected, and it is something truly admirable.

First, she chose not to attend the Star Magic Ball in September because she wanted to donate directly to the Bantay Bata Foundation, the charitable organization that the ball was giving its proceeds. She said that instead of spending on a dress and hair and makeup, she chose to give all foregone expenses directly to the cause.

And now, another holiday when she could have attended the many parties (she is photographed attending one with beau Neil Arce) or flown to the US, Japan or Europe like most other celebrities, she was in areas badly hit by tremblors.

She reportedly bought half a million-worth of relief goods for the earthquake victims. She was even seen doing the grocery shopping herself in Davao. Another photo showed her in Cotabato, chatting with the locals.

It’s not the first of her acts. In the past, she was also seen volunteering in disaster-stricken areas like the time when “Yolanda” or “Haiyan” struck Eastern Visayas in November 2013.

The key word here is spotted because photos of her in these places were selfies and stolen shots uploaded by netizens.

Most of the time, the media and netizens would be informed of her good deeds because of real-time or late uploads in Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

Many people say that she’s aptly named Angel (short for Angelica, her given name), or that she’s literally an angel and Darna rolled into one.
