Robbers barge into Pasig condo

The alleged leader of a notorious robbery-holdup group and his cohort were arrested by police authorities during a hot pursuit operation in Pasig City on Friday afternoon.

Pasig police chief Col. Moises Villaceran Jr. identified the suspects as Michael Medieta and Ruel Peralta, alias Cocoy, both residents of Barangay Kapasigan, Pasig City.

Their victims were Angelique Torio, 20, Bona Erica Gonzales, 18, and Errine Minor, all residents of Villa Gloria, Barangay Pinagbuhatan, also in Pasig City.

Villaceran said the suspects were arrested at around 5 p.m.

Investigation showed the suspects barged into the flat armed with unknown caliber of firearms and, at gunpoint, declared a holdup. They took a Dell laptop, two cellular phones, a pair of Adidas shoes, assorted shoulder bags, a wallet containing a BPI ATM card, assorted identification cards and P3,000 cash.

After the incident, the suspects immediately fled towards an unknown direction, bringing with them the stolen items.

In the meantime, the victims sought assistance from personnel of the Pasig Police.

A hot pursuit operation was conducted by Pasig police, which led to the arrest of the suspects along Rosal Street in Barangay Kapasigan.

Recovered from the suspects were the lost items, two hand grenades, a replica of a gun, a motorcycle and a television set.

The suspects are now detained at the Pasig City Police Station custodial facility facing charges of robbery-holdup and illegal possession of hand grenades.
