Meralco zaps Ginebra, 101-77

The Meralco Bolts mangled Barangay Ginebra, 101-77, dashing the latter’s bid for solo third spot in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The third defeat of the Gin Kings against five wins put them in a tie with San Miguel Beer and their coach Tim Cone said, “it’s not a good place to be (in) right now.”

It was Meralco which bagged third spot with a 6-2 card, behind NLEX and TNT, each with a 7-1 slate tied for first and second places.

“We’re out of the Top Four and we need to find our way back in. We got TNT coming up,” he added, admitting the Bolts beat them in every aspect of the game.

“We just didn’t do it tonight, so you wonder if we have the trust necessary to go out and win a championship,” Cone said of their prospect for a title.

“We came into the game playing on our reputation and didn’t put the work in. And you don’t put the work in, these are the kind of results you have,” he added. The Bolts also came off a blowout win over San Miguel Beer.
