The other side of Betong

Currently, Betong is a mainstay of the country’s longest-running gag show Bubble Gang and the Kapuso primetime series, The Gift.

COMEDIAN Betong Sumaya will show his musical side in his upcoming concert later this month.

Aside from his comedic skills and knack for hosting, comedian Betong Sumaya loves to sing. The GMA Artist Center talent will proudly showcase this in his first solo concert Betong’s Amazing Concert: Try Ko Lang Ha? on 21 November at the Music Museum.

“Truthfully, this started with GMA Pinoy TV’s concerts overseas. (It was a long time ago when) this (was) offered to me but I declined because I felt that (I was) not ready and I (couldn’t) do it alone,” Betong said.

The comedian was part of the successful Kapusong Pinoy Studio 7 Musikalye sa Brooklyn, a GMA Pinoy TV show headlined by Julie Anne San Jose, Kyline Alcantara, Alden Richards, Golden Cañedo, Rayver Cruz and Christian Bautista.

Last July, he signed up with GMA Music. His first-ever single is now in the works. “I’m thankful and blessed because of this new venture that I can add to my resume. This is a dream come true and singing is my passion,” he expressed.

Betong’s Amazing Concert: Try Ko Lang Ha? will have a star-studded guests list, including Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Michael V. “Then my friends inside and outside showbiz. Mae Bautista will also be there, Valeen, Chariz, Lovely, Chuckie who I grew close to during Survivor, Carlo Gonzales and Arthur Solinap. Alden Richards will be there, too.”

Presented by GMA Artist Center and Michael Angelo Productions, Betong’s Amazing Concert: Try Ko Lang Ha? is directed by Juan Paulo Infante and under the musical direction of Jojo Diamse. Ticket prices are available at Ticketworld for P2,900 (VVIP), P2300 (VIP), P1500 (Orchestra) and P900 (Balcony).

“I want people to see this other side of me. Though I’m not a professional singer my supporters still give me confidence. It’s a different feeling and I sincerely hope I can give this show some justice,” Betong concluded.
