Good Samaritans: South Cotabato to give out aid

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. announced on Saturday that their provincial government will extend help to residents of North Cotabato who fell victims of the earthquakes that struck the region recently.

In a radio interview, Tamayo said that they will provide residents of their neighbor region with emergency supplies as they were more affected by the magnitude 6.6 and 6.5 earthquakes that struck Tuesday and Thursday.

“The biggest damage was in North Cotabato, so we see it fit that we extend our help to them,” said Tamayo.

The South Cotabato governor said that the Provincial Risk Reduction Management Councils of all localities in South Cotabato and North Cotabato were working to make sure that the emergency supplies were delivered and distributed as efficiently as possible.

Meanwhile, the governor assured that South Cotabato had not been seriously affected by the earthquakes, and residents may resume normal schedules by next week.

As of Saturday, Tamayo said that it was safe for civil servants to go back to their offices and students could also begin attending classes next week given all government buildings and structures had been properly checked and inspected.
