US President Donald Trump’s daughter and senior adviser said in a Facebook post she likens her father to Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the country, as he faces impeachment probe from the House of Representatives.

Ivanka Trump posted on her Facebook page: “…surrounded by enemies and spies catching and perverting every word that falls from my lips or flows from my pen, and inventing where facts fail them.” -Thomas Jefferson’s reflections on Washington, D.C. in a letter to his daughter Martha.

She captioned the quote: Some things never change, dad!”

Ivanka’s post came after the US House of Representatives voted 232-196 Thursday formalizing the impeachment inquiry on her father, who described it as the greatest Witch Hunt In American History!”.

Jefferson’s quote was from a February 1801 letter to his daughter when he was vice president and the then Congress was choosing between him and Aaron Burr to be the next leader of the country. Jefferson was voted to be president a month later.

However, the opposite situation is facing the embattled Trump whom the Democrat-led Congress wanted ousted by approving the impeachment process.

Democrats accuse Trump of pressuring a foreign government to investigate a domestic political rival in exchange for military aid. The foreign government refers to Ukraine and the rival refers to Joe Biden, who is running for president in next year’s elections.
