What makes you blush?

Created in 1912, Oreo has been known to come out with various flavors, some of which weren’t considered conventional at various times.

Among the guests at the Oreo Red Velvet launch last 16 October was Kyle Echarri, the 16-year-old rising star who plays Kristoff in ABS-CBN’s Kadenang Ginto and an avid Oreo cookie lover.

Just like the newest Red Velvet Oreo cookie, the teen star is humble when it comes to accepting compliments but still blushes red from it, nonetheless.

“Depende po sa ano, kasi minsan hindi talaga ako naniniwala pero kahit anong mangyari nagte-thank you ako kasi they really think about me in that way. So, it’s heartwarming (It depends because sometimes I don’t believe their compliments but anyway I say thank you because they think of me in that way. So, it’s heartwarming),” he said.

Blushing from compliments was a topic of the day as Oreo, through Mondelez Philippines, introduced a new flavor of the beloved cookie.

Oreo has been a staple snack over the decades, outlasting different baked goods in competition. There’s just something about the simple, cream-filled confection that people, no matter what age, love.

“Oreo is about bringing people together and sharing (the cookie) is more fun, interesting and a playful thing of itself, and that’s what we want to do. That’s why through the years we have expanded the Oreo portfolio in the Philippines to bring everyone the right product and the right moment made the right way. That’s why we have different Oreo flavors to cater to different taste preferences,” Criselle Villafuerte, category manager of Oreo Biscuits, said.

Created in 1912, Oreo has been known to come out with various flavors, some of which weren’t considered conventional at various times, such as Lemon, Chocolate Hazelnut, Peanut Butter, Cinnamon Bun and Golden Birthday Cake.

There were Oreo variations like Golden Double Stuf, Double Stuf, Oreo Thins — the cookie maker might have tried it all just for the sake of their consumers.

And what’s the harm in giving back to the world’s favorite cookie and making it blush red with compliments?

“Throughout the years, Oreo has received a lot of compliments from consumers. And, with playfulness in mind, Mondelez Philippines, the maker of Oreo, wants a new addition to make snacking more fun and playful,” Kristine Enriquez, brand manager of Mondelez Philippines, shared.

To celebrate the compliments given to Oreo in the Philippines, the limited Oreo Red Velvet cookie was launched recently in Manila. It was first launched in the United States and was exclusively available there in 2015.

Echarri also revealed that if there’s someone he would like to give a Red Velvet Oreo to, it’s to Francine Diaz, his onscreen partner. They are starring in a movie called the Silly Red Shoes which fits the Oreo Red Velvet concept, coming this November under the direction of James Robin Mayo.

According to Kyle, this is the first time he’s tasted the new Oreo variant. “It’s delicious, it tastes like real red velvet cake,” he said.

For this limited-edition cookie, the first-ever compliment-powered machine in the Philippines ran its course throughout the metro. The “Compliment Machine” exchanges compliment for Oreo treats. It went to Robinsons Galleria, Glorietta Activity Grounds and UP Town Center for the last half of October.

The classic, favorite Oreo with a newly added twist will be available in supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide until January 2020. To know more, like Oreo on Facebook www.facebook.com/Oreo and follow @oreoph on Twitter and Instagram.
