Huawei has released in the Philippines its newest flagship phone in the Mate series, which aims to compete with premium brands such as the iPhone 11 and Samsung Note 10.

The Huawei Mate 30 is a stunning all-metal phone packed with unique features. Upfront, the Huawei Mate 30 has a 6.53-inch OLED waterfall display with an 18.4:8 aspect ratio and an edge-to-edge borderless design.

It has an almost invisible notch at its top which houses a gesture sensor, 3D depth camera, ambient light, a proximity sensor and a selfie camera.

The screen also doubles as its volume rocker as Huawei has abandoned buttons for a virtual volume slider. Co-engineered with Leica, the new phone from Huawei boasts a circular accent at its back called “Halo ring” which has four rear cameras.

The rear cameras are comprised of a 40MP ultra-wide camera, a 40MP super sensing wide camera, an 8MP telephoto lens and a 3D depth sensor. It has ISO up to 409,600, internal stabilizer and zooming of up to 45 times.

Videography also takes the spotlight in the series with its 4K 60fps capability, ISO 51,200 and ultra slow-mo recording at 7000-plus frames per second. These are infused with cinematic settings.

Award-winning director Sid Maderazo described the new model as the smartphone with best in class low light sensitivity and best wide-range focal length.

Adding to its unique features is the “multi-screen collaboration” which mirrors the phone’s screen to laptops, allowing users access to two devices at the same time.

Huawei Mate 30 runs on a Kirin 990 chipset with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. It has a 4,200 mAh battery with 40-watt fast charging via USB-C, a 27-watt fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

It was made available in the country last 28 October. Huawei Mate 30 will retail at P34,990, while the Mate 30 Pro will sell for P50,990. The prices are way lower than what marque brands like Samsung and iPhone sell for their premium phones Note 10 and iPhone 11.

The smartphones are available in space silver and black.
