Aklan to experience brownouts

KALIBO, Aklan — Thousands of member consumers in towns including Boracay Island will experience four-hour brownouts in the province as the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will be conducting required corrections in their system.

In an advisory relayed by the Aklan Electric Cooperative, the power distributor in the province, the NGCP said that the power interruptions will start at midnight of 30 October until 4 a.m.

“We will exert all our efforts to restore power earlier or as scheduled,” the NGCP advisory read.

Among the tasks to be undertaken were the hotspot correction of thermal anomalies at Panit-an-Nabas substation and in the Caticlan 69 KV line to Nabas, the relocation of capacitor bank panels and the reconnection of loop in Nabas-Culasi.

The NGCP also announced power interruptions from 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. on 30 October at the Cubay and Cardidad Substation of the Antique Electric Cooperative.
