‘Twerk or Treat’ party turns deadly

A shooting at an off-campus Halloween costume party of Texas A&M Commerce students killed two people and wounded at least 14 others in Greenville, Texas early Sunday, according to police.

Police said the shooting happened at the Party Venue, an 8,000-square-foot facility on U.S. Highway 380 about 16 miles from the Texas A&M Commerce campus. The event was promoted on social media as a “Twerk and Treat” party on Saturday, one report said.

Gunfire and an ensuing stampede caused the injury to some of the victims. One was reportedly shot in the neck.

An official of Texas A&M Commerce denied that it sponsored the event.

A video of the incident posted on Facebook by a netizen showed two male sprawled on the floor and others running as screams and gunfire are heard in the background. (Viewers discretion is advised.)
