More than a pretty face

I am not yet thinking of retiring, but this is something I want to do after my volleyball career.

She serves as face of Cignal in the Philippine Superliga, skippered the national squad in various international tournaments, starred in commercials and product endorsements and spearheaded a handful of charity works, the latest meant for Jovelyn Gonzaga’s nephew who is suffering from cancer.

But there’s one thing that Daquis has yet to do.

“I am not yet thinking of retiring, but this is something I want to do after my volleyball career,” said Daquis, referring to her latest hobby of coming up with video blogs or vlog.

Daquis admitted that she’s still a rookie when it comes to vlogging.

Unlike other celebrities who could act naturally when a smartphone is pointing at them, Daquis stressed that she still gets cold feet when she starts to record her videos.

More than that, her editing skills remains at an amateur level.

“I really don’t know anything in editing and the whole vlogging thing. Actually, I don’t really watch other bloggers, but I’m still trying, said Daquis, adding that she’s fueled to push it through after getting a lot of positive feedbacks.

“I did not expect to receive those feedbacks from my ever-loyal supporters and the requests kept coming right after that first video. I thought I wanted to do more.”

“At first, I thought that vlogging was easy. But when I actually tried it, it was the other way around,” she said, adding that she’s drawing solid support from her team composed of her manager Stanley Santos and videographer cum editor Ryan Audencial.

“This is hard and I praise those who have been in the YouTube for quite some time now like the one I used to watch these days, Alex Gonzaga.”

Daquis may be used to be in front of a camera but never has she thought that she will be creating an actual content for her supporters.

And for her, even without a medal or a trophy, this is a feat she can put in her gallery of accomplishments.

The most important thing is the effort she put in and the love she’s showing to her fans by communicating with them through the wonders of technology.
