Studies show that most Filipinos have oily skin and this may be caused by several factors, including genetics, a person’s age, chosen skincare routine, preferred products or simply the weather.

“It’s a whole lot more. You can be of normal and dry skin since our weather is very humid, of course, it’s quite natural that eventually, you’ll oil up a little bit,” Franchesca Sy, brand manager for Cetaphil, said.

And if further tests are conducted on the skin, Sy said one can find that they can be dry sensitive, too. “As you know, there now exists super extensive skincare with eight or 10 steps. But for Cetaphil, we always believe in taking care of the skin by going back to the basics,” she explained.

The basic routine starts from using a cleanser, moisturizer then the application of sunscreen. “We cleanse our face with the ideal cleanser best suited for our skin type. Cetaphil has moisturizers as well if you have oily, dry or sensitive skin. We have different formats for that. And, of course, we have the Cetaphil sunscreen which is great for people with acne-prone sensitive skin.”

Cetaphil also dove into products for infants as part of their National Healthy Skin Mission. “Your baby’s skin can be normal but they can also be compromised. Part of our campaign are discussions about the right products that can detect those possible skin concerns.”

Aside from using the right products, healthy skin can be achieved with the proper lifestyle, Sy added. “For you to have healthy skin, you have to take good care of your body by living healthy. For example, maintain a well-balanced diet, exercise right and eat good food.”

National Healthy Skin Mission is an effort initiated by Cetaphil in partnership with Watsons until the end of the year. “We decided to launch the National Healthy Skin Mission since it is our brand’s purpose to improve the lives of Filipinos through healthy skin. We use this as an avenue to educate Filipinos on how to properly take care of their skin because it’s the biggest organ of our body.”

The brand kicks off another campaign in 2020.
