Fire hits Boracay’s Muslim community

It took firefighters two hours to put the fire under control.

A fire broke out at a Muslim community in Boracay on Thursday.

The fire erupted in Sitio Ambulong, Barangay Manoc-Manoc, the holiday island’s most densely populated area.

Firefighters put out the fire at 10:33 a.m., about two hours after it started, according to Fire Marshall Supt. Nazrudin Cablayan of the Malay Fire Station.

The fire-hit area is far from the main road making it hard for firefighters to put it under control.

The fire reached the highest alarm level prompting fire volunteers from other areas to respond.
