FCG qualifier under way

In a bid to develop future champions, the DreamBig Event will be holding its first-ever Future Champions Golf (FCG) Qualifying Tournament from 16 to 17 December at the Orchard Golf and Country Club.

According to DreamBig Events founder and chief executive officer Akshay Maliwal, they will be holding a camp and a qualifying tourney to make sure that young Filipino golfers would be able to play in the biggest junior golf tournament in the United States.

“FCG is one of the biggest junior golf tours in the US. We are the licensed quality provider of that junior tour in Asia,” said Maliwal during the press launch yesterday.

“Previously, it was just a college golf camp. Now, it is a 36-hole, two-day tournament prior to the golf camp.”

Maliwal added that the top few spots in the tournament would be getting a direct invite for the World Championship.

“The top few spots in that tournament will be getting a direct invite to the San Diego world championship in July.”

There will be a total of three age divisions in tournament; the 11-12 years old, 13-14 years old and the 15-18 years old. The winner in each division will be able to qualify for direct entry to the FCG Callaway World Junior Gold Championship.

“DreamBig is coming in to support the families in getting to that world championship.” Maliwal said.
