Rody in pain, cuts Japan trip

Due to the pain he was feeling following the motorcycle accident he figured in last week, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he was cutting his trip to Japan for the enthronement rites of Emperor Naruhito.

In a social media video, the President confirmed that he felt the pain while rising from bed to brush his teeth during his stay in Japan – where he was supposed to stay for two days but had to go home early due to “unbearable pain in his spinal column near the pelvic bone.”

According to Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo, the President was due to see a neurologist on Wednesday and noted that while Duterte was able to witness the Japanese Emperor’s enthronement rites, he was “carrying a cane to assist him in his walk.”

He reportedly asked his daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who also attended the enthronement ceremony, to represent him in the Japanese emperor’s banquet.
