CIDG files raps vs Albayalde, ninja cops

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has filed a criminal complaint against the ‘ninja cops” involved in the controversial “Pampanga 13” case and former PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde.

The CIDG included Albayalde in an amended complaint it filed before the Department of Justice (DoJ), naming him as first respondent.

“The PNP, as complainant aims to avoid undue influence, collusion, and partiality that may be extended against herein police officers as a result of familiarity with the local prosecution office,” the referral complaint read.

The suspects were accused of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, bribery, falsification of documents, perjury and dereliction of duty.

The complaint stemmed in a drug case where 13 police officers in Pampanga were implicated for allegedly allowing suspected drug lord Johnson Lee to get away in exchange for 160 kilos of shabu worth P50 million.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra recently formed a three-man panel to reinvestigate the case.
