Newly-appointed PMA Cadet Commandant Brig. General Romeo Brawner Jr. pointed thisout Friday as a team of psychologists offered their help in providing psychosocial assessments in Asia’s premier military school. He said after the assessments, the psychologists will give some recommendations and suggestions to help the cadets in monitoring their behavior.
Brawner said that following the death of fourth class cadet Darwin Dormitorio due to hazing, his batchmates will need to undergo psychotherapy to arrest their traumatic experience. He said there is a psychological effect on them. He also said that the upper class cadets especially the 1st classes will have to undergo therapy such as anger management.
The commandant said the academy needs psychiatrists or experts on mental health.
Brawner said that they are going to conduct group norming where they will be able to weed out bad practices of the cadets such as the culture of hazing. From that he said, good practices and proper attitudes will be reintroduced.
