Majoy Baron’s experience with the national women’s team is reaping a handsome reward.

F2 Logistics head coach Ramil de Jesus said the prized middle blocker had improved tremendously following stints with the national squad in the ASEAN Grand Prix last month.

Baron emerged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) when the Cargo Movers crushed erstwhile undefeated Petron in the finals of the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference late Thursday at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.

“Well, she had a good exposure in the ASEAN Grand Prix in Thailand then here in the Philippines,” said de Jesus following the Cargo Movers’ five-set conquest that game them their second straight Invitational Conference title.

Aside from her ASEAN Grand Prix exposure, where she plucked the Best Middle Blocker crown in both editions, de Jesus said Baron’s hard work and dedication allowed her to improve.

In fact, Baron fired 15 points in the title-clinching match while Mau had 30 markers and Kim Dy added 14 for their fifth title in the most prestigious women’s club league in the country.

“I notice that she’s very diligent in training and she loves what she’s doing,” said de Jesus, who owns a collection of 11 titles in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.

It was the sixth PSL Best Middle Blocker award for Baron and an MVP crown is a welcome addition to her growing collection.

“I really couldn’t believe it,” she said.

“This is such a wonderful blessing. I’m very inspired by this award because it means that my effort is paying off.”

Baron and the national squad will be flying to Japan next week before competing in the PSL Super Cup. Then, they will see action in the 30th Southeast Asian Games in a bid to emerge with a podium finish.
