LRT-2 full operations seen

The Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) may resume its full operations sooner than expected, its management said Monday.

Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) spokesperson Hernando Cabrera disclosed that train operations may be back to normal within two to three months, just in time for the holiday season.

The repair timeline can be also hastened if authorities could do a component-by-component replacement of damaged parts.

The move, however, remains as a “big possibility” after train engineers said they are still assesing the totality of the damage on the power rectifiers of LRT-2 between Anonas and Katipunan stations due to fire on 3 October.

LRT-2 resumed partial operations last week, ferrying passengers between Recto and Cubao stations.

The train management earlier said that full operations will resume after nine months.
