Realme unveils quadcam phones

Photography enthusiasts on a budget rejoice.

After launching itself as one of the most promising gaming phone brands in the country, Realme has expanded its targeting sight on photography hobbyists with the release of its first line of quadcam phones — the Realme5 and Realme5 pro.

The new line from the former OPPO sub-brand packs four rear cameras that are perfect for both daytime and lowlight shooting, boasting of a 48 megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor for its three main lenses and a 16MP selfie camera with a f/2.0 aperture, also mated to an IMX586.

Aside from the solid hardware, the cameras also take advantage of nifty software that allow them to shoot video at 960 frames per second albeit at the highest resolution of 720p as against the ubiquitous 1080p cameras and those with 4K resolutions.

Realme now also allows video editing on the device, allowing users to express their creativity by letting them adjust video speed, use filters, texts and soundtrack effects. The edited videos are rendered ready for social network sharing.

Staying true to its roots as a gaming phone, the Realme 5 runs on Snapdragon 665 processor while Realme5 pro is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 AIE processor.

It is also equipped with an Adreno 610 GPU which guarantees real visual sense and allows users to play a variety of mobile games with a seamless experience arising from smooth frame rate, rapid operation, surround sound and HD image.

Long battery life is also assured with the new series as it runs on 4,035mAh high-capacity battery and 20W VOOC 3.0 flash charge technology. The technology uses a low-voltage, high-current mode to ensure fast charging speed while reducing heat production on both the phones and the chargers.

The phones sport a 6.3-inch Full HD + LCD Gorilla Glass 3 display with a small waterdrop notch the same as the Realme 3 Pro. It has a 90.6 percent screen-to-body ratio and delivers a peak brightness of 450 nits, making it visible for outdoor use but not under direct sunlight.

What’s best about the new line is its affordability: Realme 5 3gb/64gb version retails for P7,990 while the 4gb/128gb version sells for P9,990. A 3gb/32gb variant exclusive for Lazada is also available for P6,990.

The Realme5 pro, meanwhile has two versions — the 4gb/128gb (P11,990) and 8gb/128gb (P13,990).
