Former Laker David Nwaba forced a turnover and scored on a dunk with 13.9 seconds left to seal the Brooklyn Nets’ 114-111 win over the Los Angeles Lakers at the National Basketball Association’s exhibition game in Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China on Friday.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Lakers to the disappointment of the mostly pro-LeBron James fans.

The score was tied at 111 with 20.9 seconds left when Nets guard Theo Pinson split his free throws amid boos from the crowd. Nwaba then scored the Nets’ final points to notch the team’s second win in the preseason.

Spencer Dinwiddie finished with 20 points and seven assists. Dzanan Musa, had 16 and Taurean Prince had 18.

Nwaba ended the game with six points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 18 minutes.

For the Lakers, James scored 20 points and Anthony Davis added 16. Rajon Rondo had 18 points, six assists and five rebounds while Caldwell-Pope added 11 points, Howard finished with five points and JaVale McGee contributed six points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, three steals and an assist.

Brooklyn’s Kyrie Irving and Caris LeVert were injured in the face and sit out the game as a precaution.

The two teams will play again in Shenzhen, which is 17 miles from Hong Kong, on Saturday.
