San Juan mayor probes anomalies from Gomez admin

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora is seeking an investigation into several alleged anomalies and irregularities of the previous administration.

In his speech during his first state of city address, Zamora vowed to his constituents that those behind alleged anomalies in the past administration will be held accountable.

“We have found out that different departments have anomalies. Now, whether the former mayor (Guia Gomez) is connected or not, I’m not saying anything at this point. But what I’m saying is definitely we have found a lot of anomalies,” Zamora told reporters in an ambush interview.

“Among the anomalies that we have discovered from the previous administration are low collection on rental of San Juan Gym, receipts of San Juan Medical Center wherein P25,000 have been paid but only P800 went to the city’s coffers and the anomalous purchase of backhoes worth P40 million which is a wasted fund because these are too big enough so it cannot even go down to our waterways such as creeks and rivers,” Zamora added.

The San Juan mayor said they are now in the process of case build up and collecting all evidences that they have before filing appropriate charges against those behind alleged anomalies.

“All of these observations were discovered during the first 100 days of office, and we will refer them to the legal department of our city hall, and also we will allow the Commission on Audit to investigate it further,” Zamora said.

“We will do this in a right process, which is we allow CoA to audit everything, and after all audits have been finished then we will see up to the extent of the anomalies,” the mayor added.
