UAAP-NCAA Press Corps elects officers

Cedelf P. Tupas of the Philippine Daily Inquirer and Norman Lee Benjamin Riego of ABS-CBN Sports will be at the helm of the Chooks-to-Go Collegiate Press Corps for the current season.

During the elections held Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena before the UAAP games, Tupas was elected UAAP Press Corps president while Riego succeeds him as NCAA Press Corps head.

The group, made up of sportswriters from print and online outfits covering the beat, will consolidate its duties as one unit.

Spin.ph’s Randolph B. Leongson was also selected as secretary with Tiebreaker Times’ Matthew Li as treasurer.

Appointed to the group’s Board of Trustees were Kristel Satumbaga-Villar of Manila Bulletin, John Bryan Ulanday of Philippine Star, Bong Lozada of Inquirer.net, JR Isaga of Rappler and Theodore Jurado of People’s Journal.

Reuben Terrado of Spin.ph, last year’s UAAP Press Corps president, as well as Joey Villar of Philippine Star, Jasmine W. Payo of Rappler, Jonas Terrado of Manila Bulletin and Peter Atencio of Manila Standard will be the press corps advisers.

Among the group’s upcoming projects are a sportswriting clinic for student publications and the annual Collegiate Awards.
