This newest MG 5 enters the cutthroat world of sub-compact cars with its best-in-class length, width and wheelbase.

After its successful stint at the recent Cebu Auto Show, the MG 5, The Covenant Car Co. Inc. (TCCCI)’s newest entry into the local sub-compact sedan segment, made its Metro Manila debut at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center in Makati City. Included together in its public display were the MG ZS crossover SUV, MG RX5 SUV and the MG 6 fastback sedan.

This newest MG 5 enters the cutthroat world of sub-compact cars with its best-in-class length (4,601mm), width (1,788mm) and wheelbase (2,680mm). This paves the way to an impressive legroom for both front and rear passengers, not to mention a more commanding stance on the road. This slick stunner rocks a fuel-efficient 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve naturally-aspirated engine that produces 112 hp and has a best-in-class torque output of 150 N-m, mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or automatic CVT with manual mode.

Aside from its flashy European premium-like looks, the MG5 also features auto on/off LED headlamps. Inside, it sports first-in-segment creature comforts, such as: a user-friendly 10-inch touch screen infotainment head unit that can run both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; 360-degree vehicle view, which gives drivers a bird’s eye view of the car — thus, making it easier to negotiate in tight parking spaces and road obstructions in low speed traffic. Not to mention a power driver’s seat for optimum comfort adjustment.

The all-new MG 5 is available in the following variants: 1.5L STD 5MT-P658, 888.00; 1.5L COM CVT- P 848,888.00; 1.5L STD CVT- P 718,888.00; 1.5L DEL CVT- P 938,888.00

“With its British heritage, its features are what you normally see in a premium sedan. Everything looks and feels premium. Yet, it’s still very affordable,” Atty. Alberto Arcilla, president and CEO of TCCCI-MG Philippines shared.

When asked about his expected reception from the local market, he replied: “We are optimistic and remain aggressive on our hopes with the MG5. As you know, the first batch of our orders of our other models have already been sold out. We expect the same with this.”

“We see a minimum of 300-400 unit sales per month,” he continued.

In fact, according to him, their customers have been very much satisfied with their current products and the aftersales service they provide in their now 19 dealerships nationwide.

“Our company is very much thankful for the reception.”

MG Philippines is celebrating its first year anniversary under TCCCI this October. The latter, likewise, is also commemorating its 10th year this month.
