BI nabs Japanese fugitive

An alleged former Yakuza member, who has been hiding in the country for eight years, was arrested by agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

Katsumi Ohno, 71, is wanted in Japan for fraud and will be deported.

The BI and Japanese authorities apprehended Ohno on 30 September.

Investigation revealed that Ohno arrived in the country as a tourist from Hong Kong last 10 April, 2011. His passport expired November last year, making him an undocumented alien.

He is now detained at the the Immigration Detention Center in Taguig City and will be blacklisted in the country.
