Star City slams BFP arson findings

The management of Star City slammed the statement of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) as “irresponsible” after it implied that the owners possibly started the fire that gutted the amusement park in Pasay City.

Star City spokesperson Ed de Leon debunked the BFP’s claim, saying the park is still earning money and will earn much more in the coming holiday season.

“We feel that it was inappropriate, to say the least, to release statements to media first regarding arson as the cause of fire when the investigation is not clearly concluded and before taking up such matter with Star City’s management, the principal party concerned,” De Leon said in a statement.

De Leon added that the presence of gasoline and cotton is normal in the area where the fire supposedly started since the Bumper Boat ride runs on gasoline while cotton is used as fillings for stuffed toys.

Pasay City Fire Marshal Spt. Paul Pili earlier said arson was likely since the owners have “full control of the area.”

“Oo syempre ganun ‘yun, kasi they have the full control of the area. ‘Pag arson it’s either ibang tao or pwedeng ‘yung may-ari kasi he has the control of the area. Pwedeng ibang tao kasi may tenant ka,” Pili told reporters.

Pili added they will summon the officers of the amusement park and ask for pertinent documents.

Star City said it will cooperate with the investigation.
