Teachers get special ward in new Ospital ng Maynila

The City of Manila will construct a special ward for the use of public teachers once the renovation of the Ospital ng Maynila starts next year.

Mayor Isko Moreno made the pronouncement as he lauded the role of teachers in nation-building as well as shaping and creating future leaders.

“We all owe what we have become today to our teachers. They’re our country’s silent heroes,” Moreno said.

Apart from the ward, a special lane will also be accorded public school teachers in the hospital should they need medical attention―all free of charge.

“This is our small way of honoring our teachers for all their love, patience and understanding just to instill discipline and knowledge to students,” Moreno said.

Moreno said the construction of a new and modern Ospital ng Maynila will “definitely” begin in 2020. It will be located near the current site, the corner of Quirino Avenue and Roxas Boulevard. It is envisioned to be an all-glass building for a full view of the Manila Bay. The current building will be converted to the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila medical school.

“The new OM will be at par with the country’s leading private hospitals in terms of services and facilities,” Moreno assured.
